Polop, currently known as Polop de la Marina, is a municipality of the Valencian Community (Spain) located in the northeast of the province of Alicante, in the region of the Marina Baja.
During the Old Regime, Polop was a stately Aragonese barony. Barons of Polop is as it was known to those who exercised ownership of the manor. It was created by Jaime I de Aragón and awarded to Doña Berenguela Alfonso de Castilla. The feud was in the hands of the House of Aragon until 1430 and the Fajardo family until the beginning of the 19th century.
