Oliva is a municipality of the Valencian Community, Spain. It is located in the southeast of the province of Valencia, in the region of Safor, bordering the province of Alicante. It had 25,789 inhabitants in 2016.
The municipality of Oliva is located on the southern boundary of the province of Valencia. Due to its geographic relief it can be divided into three zones. The mountain is all of cretaceous domain and prefigured several folds of Betic orientation, SO-NE, extensions of the Sierras Gallinera and Mustalla. In the first of them are the highest heights of the term: Pla del Frares (464 msnm maximum height of the term) and Covatelles (365 m.) Are listed as protected natural public park and between these two peaks we find the Font de Maria Rosa ; Tossal Gros (293 m), Cavall Bernat (206 m), Penya de l'Àguila (170 m).
In the second, located at the southern end, they include:
Pla de Carritxar (249 m.) On its summit has a depression that stores rainwater and on its banks there are plants belonging to humid zones such as the Carrizo Phragmites australis (hence its name of Carrixar). Lloma d'Enmig (238 m), Penyalba (154 m).
The central zone, between the mountain and the coast, is formed by a quaternary plain, the result of the sedimentation of materials eroded and washed away by the waters; most of the sediments, especially those occupied today by the orchard, correspond to the Pleistocene. Next to the marshy areas the materials are more recent, from the Holocene. The third zone is still in the drying phase and is occupied by the marshes.
The coast, which extends along 8.8 km., 3 is low and sandy, with beaches of fine sand in all its length, except in the most southern end, where the province of Alicante begins. Part of its municipal area is integrated into the Marjal de Pego-Oliva natural park.
